Oreo Cookie Poke Cake
Chocolate cake, pudding, Cool Whip and Oreo Cookies . . . enough said!
This cake is simply delicious! Poke cakes, no matter the flavor, are fun and simple dessesrts to make. They just never disappoint. This cake turns it up a notch, not only because it uses pudding instead of gelatin, but because it has Oreos!!!! This Oreo Cookie Poke Cake is a chocolate cake infused with pockets of vanilla pudding and Oreo crumbs, and topped with Cool Whip and more Oreo crumbs AND mini Oreos, resulting in the most delicious slice of poke cake EVER!
Oreo Cookie Poke Cake is the ideal dessert for Oreo lovers who want a little EXTRA with their Oreos but don’t want to spend a lot of time on it. It is SO easy! This is a quick and easy recipe that uses both a cake mix and a pudding mix which makes it so convenient to make.
What is a poke cake you ask?
There are many different versions of a poke cake, but basically it is a white or yellow box cake mix that you make according to the instructions on the box and when cooled you take the handle end of a wooden spoon and poke holes in the cake. Then you make your preferred flavor of Jello gelatin according to package directions and then pour it over the cake to soak into the top of the cake and throughout the holes making it incredibly moist.
In this recipe, however, I have changed the flavor of the cake to CHOCOLATE and used Jello Pudding instead, still making the pudding according to the package directions, adding in some crushed Oreo cookies, and then pouring it over the holey cake, making sure to push the pudding down into the holes. Then I topped it with the Cool Whip, but first I mixed in some crushed Oreo cookies because why not? Then I covered the cake with the Oreo Cool Whip and added more crushed Oreo cookies as well as Mini Oreo Cookies on top before serving. Oreos, Oreos, Oreos everywhere! YES, YES, YES!!!!
If you’d rather use Oreo flavored Jello Pudding you absolutely can. I chose to use vanilla pudding instead so that I could control the sweetness level of the cake because I think the Oreo flavored pudding is a little too sweet. Totally your call. Either way you’ll have an amazing poke cake that everyone will love!
