All is Fair in Love & Waxing
If you’re like me, you may get some nose hairs that escape your nostrils and you want to banish them from your face. Both men and women have EXTRA hair growth in their nostrils as they get older. CRAZY, right?! Most of your hair gets thinner as you get older, but not in the nose!! AND, if that’s not bad enough, mine are black! I am a natural redhead, but just recently I have developed both white and black hair growth. I’m basically CALICO! Both have made their way to my scalp and I get straight, thick white hairs in my eyebrows that refuse to be CONCEALED with my tinted eyebrow gel and black hairs coming out of my nose!
Anyway, today is NOT about me, it is about my husband. Men like to look nice too, well sometimes, but they may not ADMIT it!
Nose hairs are considered a natural air FILTER. Your nostrils are lined with tens of thousands of hairs that BLOCK germs, viruses, dust, and pollen from making their way to your lungs as you breathe. But sometimes you may want to REMOVE some of those hairs to give you a more clean, polished look. However, since these hairs have a very important function, people should ONLY ever target the visible hairs that they deem to be UNSIGHTLY. Waxing the outermost nostril hairs allows you to shorten only a few (or a little more) protruding hairs. As a result, the MAJORITY of hairs remain intact and able to protect the airways.
If you want to remove UNSIGHTLY nostril hairs, you can wax them, shave them, use tweezers to pull them out, or use a nose hair trimmer. The most significant DISADVANTAGE of shaving or using nose trimmers is that the hairs will grow back rather quickly, whereas pulling the hairs out lasts longer because the hair has to regrow, and they normally grow back thinner. A word of CAUTION, you can get an infection when a hair is completely pulled out, so keep an eye on it.
So my HUSBAND told me he got a nose wax kit. First I was like “what?” and then he said that he wanted ME to do it! Alright, count me in! He trims the hairs with small scissors but wants something a little more EFFECTIVE. All I know is I was glad to help!
So the process was pretty simple and much like when I have used wax on my eyebrows. But this kit made it really easy and had EVERYTHING needed. There was a little clear cup to put hot water in, a disposable paper cup to put the wax beads in and then sit on top of the hot water to melt, plastic sticks to put the wax on, and cute little mustache STICKERS to cover his mustache - that was a really good idea to have in there because I could very well have dripped it all over his mustache and pulled off MORE hair than was intended.
The little plastic sticks have a ledge for the wax to sit on that allows you to only get the wax in the tip of the nostril. That is really IMPORTANT because remember those nose hairs have a valuable function. Just leave them in the nostrils for a few minutes to let the wax harden and give them a good YANK! Voila!!!
He was very PLEASED with the outcome and I’m so glad I got to participate. The next time he needs them bad boys trimmed up again I’m IN!
Shave it, tweeze it, trim it, wax it. . . . or just leave it as-is! You are BEAUTIFUL - or HANDSOME - no matter what!
Have a great week my friends!
