Greetings and welcome to my blog!
I’m Ginger Porter, but you know me as “Mama P”! I’m still discovering who I am, but at fifty-six I still have plenty of time to discover, don’t you think?
A Little About Me:
I don’t know about you, but it seems a little too cliche to say “been married to the man of my dreams for 35 years”. The truth is, I’m happier than I ever imagined possible, and of course there have been some bumps in the road along the way, but I am just in a place of peace.
I’m first and foremost a child of God, I’m passionate about glorifying Him and making the most of my days on Earth living out His plan and purpose for me. That is why I’m here on this journey.
My Goals:
To add more value to your world than you ever dreamed possible by giving you tools to make your everyday life easier, more productive, and satisfying.
I’m a midwestern girl who loves nature in its entirety. I’m a wife, mother, Gigi, a caretaker to my cats and dog, and a beekeeper. I love cooking, baking, entertaining, gardening, teaching, crafting and making videos! I’m passionate about everything I do because if it's worth doing it's worth doing to the best of my ability.
I come from a long line of fabulous cooks, with my culinary training taking place at the side of my mom and grandma. Over the years, cooking has become a way of expressing my love for others by developing new recipes and introducing people to favorites I grew up on, as well as putting a new twist on classics. My hope is that you’ll find one or more of my creations to enjoy with your family and take joy in what you can accomplish and come to love cooking as much as I do.
Just as with cooking, I grew up with a large garden and helping my mom and grandma freeze and can fruits and vegetables. What a great experience it is to know you are taking the fresh taste of produce and preserving it to enjoy throughout the year! Through trial and error working with the land at my home, I have built a beautiful and functional low-maintenance garden of raised beds and won an award for the design in 2022.
Then there’s a peace I have discovered within myself as I have come to a point in my life where I wear confidence.
I also have come to embrace my quirkiness and I don’t feel the need to “fit” an unattainable mold. I am unapologetically me and I want you to have that same feeling!
My blog evolved as a result of friends and family asking for recipes, gardening and style advice, and wanting ideas for everything from pet and beekeeping care to crafts and landscaping , so I decided to share my life and experiences so that I can help inspire and encourage others to explore their dreams and live the life that was intended for them.
Not only can I share in the enjoyable areas of life, I unfortunately can share about heartache and pain that people experience. Why? Because I experienced a heartache of a lifetime when my 17 year old daughter was killed in a car wreck. I have been able to use my unexplainable pain to help others cope with their losses. It's okay to not be okay. It’s okay to not want to celebrate when your heart is broken. I am here with experience to share on that as well. I also have overlapping autoimmune diseases of rheumatoid arthritis and lupus. I know the physical and emotional pain having an autoimmune condition can bring and disrupt your life.
So thank you for stopping by. I’d love to hear from you and know what it is that I can do to help you take that step towards your dreams! Please feel free to contact me with questions you have or leave a comment stating how one of my recipes, ideas, or advice has inspired you!

Life is TOUGH. No matter your color, race, religion, or background, life will always bring challenges you have to face. You will be scrutinized, judged, and persecuted for your beliefs by those who think differently than you do.
When life gets tough, it’s tempting to let our hearts HARDEN ~ to view the world through the lens of our past hurts. That will leave you feeling alone.
And when we look through the tainted lens, we start to DOUBT that good still exists. We might find ourselves losing faith in people, holding back and hesitant to trust others. The hurt caused by one person can spread, leaving us guarded and overly CAUTIOUS as if we’re constantly waiting for the past to repeat itself.
