White Denim Jacket - Perfect For Spring
It’s beginning to look like SPRING! Here in the midwest that means a lot of fluctuating temperatures. You look out of the window. There are birds telling you spring has arrived, daffodil, tulip, hyacinth and crocus bulbs have BLOOMED welcoming spring. Don’t let that fool you! Your mind goes immediately to “it’s warm outside”! Well maybe it is, but maybe it isn’t. One thing all midwesterners know is that you have to LAYER - sometimes all year long, but especially March through October. The day may start out chilly and by the mid-afternoon be downright dreadfully hot! You must always, ALWAYS, be prepared. That’s why I chose my WHITE denim jacket to highlight today.
Actually I’m going against the historic RULE for wearing white from the early 1950’s. That “rule” was considered a tradition-based guideline that you didn’t wear white until Memorial Day and then once Labor Day arrived you had to put your white wardrobe AWAY until the next Memorial Day. People who knew and followed that rule were considered being part of the “in-the-know fashion club”. Then that guideline LOOSENED to being able to wear white beginning on Easter which is considered by most people as the true mark of spring. I’d say it’s been within the last twenty years or so that MOST people have completely broken away from those guidelines - you know, nobody seems to like to be told what to do anymore, so going AGAINST the norm now trumps all guidelines. I think that I must agree with this DITCHING of the white rule. I think it’s perfectly fine to wear white ALL year long. I do remember back in the 1980’s when people didn’t want to be known for BREAKING the rules so the clothing market brought in an “off-white” or “winter-white”. Slight rebels? I think that was just the beginning of breaking away from the rule.
For me, I think that spring DEFINITELY gets me in the mood to wear white, and like I said, layering clothing is a must. This white denim jacket is PERFECT for that. It signifies all of the new LIFE that is coming about. The new babies in nature, the trees and flowers, and GRASS is showing life, and of course Easter is the message of life eternal with Jesus Christ. We have been washed clean - white as snow. Most people have the go-to blue denim jacket a/k/a jeans jacket, but not as many have EMBRACED the white denim jacket. It is so versatile! You can dress it up or down, just like the blue denim jacket. It’s all about what you wear it with.
Take chances with your WARDROBE, you will be surprised with all of the ways you can turn things you already have into so many different outfits by incorporating just one item like a white denim jacket.
