The Power of Influence

Do you know how much POWER your influence has? I went to the dermatologist this week, and was once again reminded of the influence I have on others. As I reflect on the conversation I had with my doctor and the genuine comments she made about me, I can’t help thinking about just how much all women influence others more than we may realize.

I may not have a big following just yet, but honestly, don’t we all influence those around us in some way?

We have those who look to us for inspiration in how we dress, fix our hair or makeup, how we walk and carry ourselves. But not only that, people watch our attitude! Have you thought about that? How you greet (or don’t greet) others, the small talk with a cashier or other people waiting in line. Do you take the time to help others reach an item on a high shelf, or are you in such a hurry that you don’t have time for others?

Oh yes, we all influence others in many ways!

And if you have raised children, you know the influence you have on them!  Good or bad, they absorb it all.  What we choose to do and say each and every day impacts others in some way.

People are observing you every day and YOU can have a HUGE influence on THEM.

What message are you sending out? Is it one you would be proud of or one you might be ashamed of?

I think we need to be more aware of what message we are sending others!

Have a fabulous week my friends!

Fashion on a Budget: The Beauty of Simplicity

SIMPLICITY ~ “the state of being simple, uncomplicated, or uncompounded” (Merriam-Webster Dictionary). SOPHISTICATION ~ having a refined knowledge of the ways of the world cultivated especially through wide experience” (Merriam-Webster Dictionary). Those two terms seem to be CONTRADICTORY which makes having them intertwined even more impressive.

Sandwich Your Statement

How do you take a graphic t-shirt and make it really stand out as a statement piece? SANDWICH IT! I could also have worn it with jeans to make a very CASUAL look, but it wouldn’t have focused the attention to the message on my t-shirt. That’s why we wear graphic t-shirts, isn’t it? We have a MESSAGE to convey, no matter what the wording or picture. We want someone to KNOW (even if it’s just a reminder to yourself) something we like or believe in. It may be a funny message, it may be a concert t-shirt, it may say WHO you are (baseball mom, grandma, etc.), but it’s always INTENTIONAL.

Make a Bold Statement

I just love making a statement! Why are people so afraid of a lot of COLOR? I think it brightens up the world. Now don’t get me wrong, I used to would have NEVER worn something like this. But do you know what? As I have discovered and uncovered the REAL me, I have learned that I like to mix things up. For so long I dressed “normal” or what was ACCEPTABLE by the majority of society. I say majority because there are some daring people (I put myself in that category now) who readily and happily break that MOLD and do their own thing.

Graphic Tees

I just love graphic tees!  I’d say just about EVERYBODY has at least one graphic tee in their closet.  You know, I used to think they were only for “relaxed” days at home, for exercising or working outside, or maybe with a comfy pair of shorts for pajamas - can I get an AMEN!  I’ve come to a NEW realization.  Graphic tees can be worn just about ANYTIME!  You can take a graphic tee and make it everyday wear while still looking “nice”.  Now you may have a job that prohibits it, but if not, why not go for it?  JAZZ it up and make it your new go-to style.
